1. Initiation: the ceremony in which a teacher accepts a student, and the student's learning begins.

2. Dedication: committing oneself to a discipline.

Origin

The word comes from the Sanskrit root दीक्ष् (dīkṣ), which means to prepare for a rite, or to be initiated. Traditional commentaries explain it through two words: दा (dā), to give, and क्षि (kṣi), to wear away. The teacher gives knowledge, and whatever stands in the way of it is worn away. We named the school for this idea of teaching.

Diksha Public School opened in Arya Colony, Surajpur, under the Diksha Education and Welfare Trust. The school is near the police lines and the District Collectorate, on the edge of Greater Noida.

02 / The senior wing

The senior wing opened across the lane, and Classes 11 and 12 began, with Science, Commerce and Humanities streams.

03 / The next generation

Harsh Arya, the founder's son, took over the running of the school as Vice President, working alongside the principal.

The school has about 900 students across its two wings, and several teachers who have been here since before the senior wing opened.

From KG to Class 5, every section has its own class teacher and a junior assistant.

Is Diksha Public School CBSE affiliated?

Yes. Diksha Public School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. Classes 9 to 12 follow the CBSE syllabus and sit the CBSE board examinations; KG to Class 8 follows the UP State Board syllabus. English is the medium of instruction throughout.

Which classes does the school take?

KG to Class 12, in two wings: the junior wing for KG to Class 8, and the senior wing across the lane for Classes 9 to 12. In Class 11, students choose Science (PCM or PCB), Commerce (with or without Maths), or Humanities.

Assembly is at 7:50 AM and the school day ends at 1:50 PM, with eight periods of 40 minutes each. The principal is in the building Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 2 PM.

Which languages are taught?

English is the medium of instruction. Hindi begins in KG. Sanskrit or Urdu is taught from Class 6 to Class 8.

Who runs Diksha Public School?

The Arya family own the school and run it themselves. Shri Shiv Kumar Arya founded it in 2009 under the Diksha Education and Welfare Trust; Anita Arya is the chairwoman; Harsh Arya, the founder’s son, is vice president and took over the running of the school in 2024; Dr Diksha Arya is a board member.
